It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve on The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. The A&M System is a unique system and the third largest in the nation…founded on values that made our country great. I am a firm believer in “service above self” and strive to give back more than I take each day. I think that Americans are lucky to have the freedom to voice their opinions, and with freedom comes responsibility.
My responsibility as the Student Regent is to articulate the most salient issues facing the students of our System to the Board members and other key decision makers. This responsibility is founded on trust and the mutually understood purpose of the leaders in the System to do what is best for Texas higher education. I am honored to serve as the first student regent and will dedicate my energy in the pursuit of ensuring student issues are understood by our policymakers.
Students, faculty and staff should feel comfortable communicating with me through their established channels to voice ideas or opinions. I expect student body presidents and other elected student officials to “carry the message” from their organizations to the Board of Regents when necessary and welcome any comments, suggestions or feedback from the student leaders of the A&M System.
